Nero d’Avola

Nero d’Avola is a native vine of Sicily. It was initially called “Calabrese” from the Sicilian words “calea-aulisi”, meaning “grape grown in the town of Avola”. It is considered “the king” of all Sicilian wines for its unique aroma and taste. This Nero d’Avola is obtained from young vineyards and sold immediately after being bottled. It pairs well with red meats and game.

Producer: Azienda Agricola Lo Giudice

Geographical area of cultivation: Espalier-trained on the hills of central- western Sicily at an altitude of approximately 300-400 m.a.s.l

Soil Type: Medium-textured clayey soils. Cropping level 50 q.

Grape variety: 100% Nero d’Avola.

Harvest time: First two decades of September.

Winemaking: Medium-long maceration at a controlled temperature of 20-22°C., in small fermenting vats. Refinement in stainless steel tanks and bottle

Colour: Scarlet red with purplish-blue hues.

Nose: Complex fruity bouquet, with predominant scents of strawberry and redcurrant.

Palate: Tannins and acidity are well balanced. It has a harmonious taste.

Alcoholic strength: 13% ABV

Serving suggestions: Nero d’Avola is an ideal pairing to red meats and game.

Serving temperature: 15-18°C
